Director/Teacher

Hello! My name is Marcella Lowry and I’m the director/teacher of Christ Ev. Lutheran Preschool. I was born and raised in a small town outside Milwaukee, Wisconsin (East Troy) and went to public schools throughout grade school and high school. I then attended Lutheran colleges in Wisconsin and Minnesota, graduated with an education degree from Martin Luther College in 1971, and began teaching in a Lutheran school in Pompano Beach, FL.

After living in Florida for eight years, my husband and I moved up north so he could further his education. I continued teaching and taking college courses, receiving my Master of Education degree from the University of Indiana at Ft. Wayne in 1983. We came back to Florida in 1986, this time to Port St. Lucie, where my husband’s family had settled after leaving Miami in the late 1970’s.

After taking several years off to be a homemaker and raise our son, Micah, I went back to school to take early childhood education courses, seeing the need for qualified preschool teachers in the state of Florida. I also worked for and received a Director’s Credential from the Florida Department of Children and Families in 2004. I’ve been the director/teacher at Christ Lutheran Preschool since it started in the fall of 2000.

I’ve now taught school for 25 years, half at the elementary level and half at the preschool level. I enjoy teaching prekindergarten children very much and would love the opportunity to talk with you about the wonderful program at Christ Lutheran Preschool.
